Student Visa

Student visas are important for individuals who are aiming to study in a reputed university abroad. Its main objective is to enable students to pursue their education abroad.

While finding a college is important, sifting through important documents can often be a major concern. Each country operates under its own immigration laws, which can vary in terms of documentation requirements beyond just studying in the country, proof of sufficient funds, and the specific authorization the visa provides

Why Student Visa?

A visa is a government document required to travel abroad for purposes such as tourism, business, education, and employment. This is a government issued travel document usually attached to the passport. For students, the visa allows them to legally enter the country to pursue their education. Tourist visas are for vacationers, while student visas are mainly for individuals who want to continue their education abroad.

When is the ideal time to apply for a student visa?

Students are strongly encouraged to plan their application process with college deadlines in mind. Must take an English language test as required by the university and ensure that all necessary documents are prepared for a smooth application process.

Therefore, students should apply at least three months in advance to avoid last-minute rush. For those applying for financial aid, scholarships, or educational loans, allow a few extra months in the process, as these applications require a lot of time.

Types of Visa

A student visa is differentiated into 2 types:

    1. Student Visa Based on Program’s Duration
Depending on the course the student intends to pursue, many countries typically treat student visas as short-term and long-term student visas Temporary visas are often issued to students who are planning to attend shorter courses, such as language programs or certificate courses they prefer enroll in several degree programs, which can also include diploma programs and internships
    2. Student Visa Based on Type of Program
Regardless of the length of the course, some countries categorize student visas based on a student’s academic level or program type. These visas are issued according to the degree program applied for such as professional studies or certificate programs. The main difference in these cases is not the length of the program but the type of student and the educational program offered to them. For example, whether an international student has been enrolled in a permanent program for three months or more, the classification of the visa would still be based on the type of student instead the duration of the program.
